Your 5-Star Medical Pedicure In Newport Beach

A regular nail salon will make your toes look great, but it won’t treat the real problems with your feet.
A Medical Pedicure, or Medi-Pedi or Podological Pedicure, is a clinical foot treatment provided by a trained podologist. It’s much more than a beauty treatment; it treats the actual problems causing issues with your toes, such as ingrown toenails, fungal infections, thickened toenails, painful calluses, cracked heels, etc.

At Nata Nails, our Medical Pedicure is conducted in a private room and uses individually sterilized, medical-grade instruments. It’s a long way from a spa treatment. This is what your feet really need – professional care with the expert knowledge and hygiene that your feet deserve.

Medical Pedicure at Nata Nails

About Us

Our Newport Beach nail salon location provides a private, sterile, clinical-grade space for medical pedicures.

You will receive one-on-one time with a certified podologist in a closed-door room with individually sterilized instruments and undivided attention to your feet. There won’t be any background walk-ins or other clients in the room distracting from the service.

We don’t believe you need to be in a hospital for proper foot care, yet the attention to detail offered at a nail salon is not sufficient. That’s why we have implemented Medical Pedicure at Nata Nails as an in-between solution.

What is a Medical Pedicure?

A Medical Pedicure is a specialized form of foot care that falls between the treatment provided at a regular salon and an actual visit to a podiatrist.

A trained podologist performs this procedure. A podologist is a foot care professional who understands the anatomy of the foot and the initial changes that can occur before a condition becomes problematic. They will treat these issues with clinical care, the way a doctor’s office would – but with the same care and attention to cleanliness that ensures that each foot is treated professionally and hygienically.

A Medical Pedicure is dry (no baths or waterpums in sight!), sterile (the instruments used are of the same standard as those you’d find in a hospital), and performed in private (there’s no chatting with the next client in line!). Instead of focusing on making you look good, your podologist will treat your feet with attention and care while discovering what’s causing your discomfort.

If you’ve ever left a regular nail salon thinking that they treated your ingrown toenail but only left you with a beautifully polished toe, a Medical Pedicure is what you need!

What Does a Medical Pedicure Treat?

Ingrown Toenails

These are some of the most painful conditions on the bottom of your feet! Regular salons can often make it worse by cutting your nails too short or at the wrong angle. Let the trained podologist at Nata Nails correct your nail shape, alleviate any pressure on the surrounding areas and teach you how to avoid this uncomfortable condition.

Fungal Nail Infections

Fungal infections create damaged, thickened, or crumbling toenails. Our podologist will treat this condition during your appointment through professional advice, careful clipping and treating, and show you how to avoid getting this condition again!

Thickened or Damaged Toenails

Nails can become thickened over time from old age, trauma, or constant pressure from certain areas of the toes. Our trained podologist can precisely use medical instruments to thin out the toenail to a proper shape that allows your toes to fit nicely in your favorite shoes again!

Calluses and Corns

Calluses develop due to friction or poor gait patterns and can be painful in certain areas. The trained podologist will remove these with accurately designed clinical tools – much easier than fighting with pumice stone than at most regular salons!.

Cracked Heels (Heel Fissures)

Deep cracks on the heel can be severe as they can open easily and even create an area where bacteria can easily enter and cause an infection which needs urgent medical care. Our trained podologist will carefully remove all dead skin cells around the affected area using medical products specifically formulated for this situation.

Diabetic Foot Care

People with diabetes should not treat their feet themselves; they require expert attention from trained podologists who understand the unique challenges that people with diabetes face when it comes to their foot care. Regular salons are not equipped to treat diabetic foot issues properly, and it is important not to try at home!

Who Needs a Medical Pedicure?

Diabetics and people with poor circulation! People with diabetes face unique difficulties in caring for their feet as the decreased blood flow and changes in sensation due to nerve damage make the slightest issue an easy entry point for infection. A trained podologist will provide expert care without causing additional discomfort – something that no regular salon can promise!Anyone with ingrown toenails.  If you’ve been using bathroom surgery to deal with it or counting on your nail tech to fix it – don’t.  A podologist will fix it properly and help you avoid getting it again.

Anyone with toenail fungus.

Fungus doesn’t go away and salon pedicures will spread it to everyone else.  A medical pedicure will treat the affected nails properly and help you set up a environment for healthy growth.

Seniors and elderly populations.

Toenails thicken with age, skin dries out and foot related issues add up.  Many seniors have difficulty taking care of their own feet.  A podologist can gently and thoroughly care for them.

Athletes and runners.

The pounding motion causes calluses, black toenails, blisters, nail damage and more.  A medical pedicure can help repair the damage and get you back on track.

Anyone who’s gotten an infection from a nail salon.

If a salon pedicure has ever given you a fungal infection, a bacterial one or made your ingrown nail worse – book a medical pedicure in a clean clinical setting.

Immunocompromised individuals.

Chemicals, autoimmune disorders and other conditions all make it dangerous to get an infection from a non-sterile environment.  Medical pedicures provide the level of hygiene needed.

Anyone who just wants the safest, most thorough pedicure available.

You don’t need a diagnosis to get a medical pedicure.  Many of our clients just prefer the higher standard of care – a sterile environment, one on one service and the knowledge that a trained professional is caring for their feet.

What Is The Difference Between A Medical Pedicure vs. Russian Pedicure?

Both are waterless and use sterile instruments. However, they serve different purposes.

A Russian Pedicure is a cosmetic service. It includes precise cuticle care, callus treatment, gel polish application, and is ideal for clients with healthy feet looking for a long-lasting beauty treatment.

A Medical Pedicure is a clinical service. It is provided by a trained podologist who will assess, diagnose, and treat any issues affecting your feet. There is no gel polish used. The focus is on the health of your nails, skin, and feet.

if you need guidance, here is a simple outline: – Your feet are healthy and you want to look great → get a Russian Pedicure – You have an issue you want help with → get a Medical Pedicure – You have diabetes, poor circulation, compromised immune system → get a Medical Pedicure – You want health care AND beauty treatments → get a Medical Pedicure first, then Russian Pedicure at your next appointment

What Will Happen During Your Medical Pedicure Appointment?

Before you arrive. No preparation is required, just come in with clean feet (if you have any nail polish on, please remove it prior to your appointment so that the podologist can properly assess your nails).

During the appointment. Your podologist will assess your feet, address any questions or concerns you may have, and provide a treatment plan. The plan will be dry (no water used), non-invasive, and performed with individually sterilized instruments. You may feel light pressure or vibrations during callus treatment or nail care but this should not be painful.

After the appointment. You will receive personalized advice on how to care for your feet at home including which products to buy, how to trim your nails properly between appointments, and what footwear you should avoid wearing. If any additional care or treatment is required, your podologist will inform you of next steps.

Recommended frequency of appointments. Most clients benefit from seeing a medical pedicure podologist every 4-6 weeks. Chronic issues (such as recurring calluses or fungal growths) may require more frequent appointments initially.

FAQ

1Is a Medical Pedicure painful?

No. It is a non-invasive procedure that uses precision instruments on a dry surface. You may feel light vibrations or pressure as your podologist works but they will always work gently and with dialogue to ensure that you are comfortable throughout.

2Do I need a referral or diagnosis from a doctor to get a Medical Pedicure?

No. Anyone can get a Medical Pedicure appointment with us. Many of our clients get them because they prefer the higher level of hygiene that we provide as an optional treatment.

3Will my feet look pretty after a Medical Pedicure?

Yes! Your feet will be smooth, clean and healthy after a Medical Pedicure appointment. However, please remember that the goal of this treatment is not cosmetic but rather health-related. If you want to add gel polish or other cosmetic treatments to your feet, we recommend that you book a separate Russian Pedicure appointment for this.

4Are Medical Pedicures safe for diabetics?

Yes! This is one reason why this treatment is available and we have a trained podologist on hand to assist with high-risk feet with poor circulation and sensitivity issues. Our waterless sterilization process prevents the risk of infection that is otherwise present in many salon-based pedicure treatments.

5Is seeing a Medical Pedicure podologist the same as seeing a podiatrist (foot doctor)?

No! A podiatrist is a medical doctor who performs surgery and who prescribing medications as necessary for patients. A podologist is a foot care specialist who provides non-invasive, clinical care (such as Medical Pedicures). Think of us as providing preventative care for your feet. If any medical issues are found during your appointment, we will refer you to a podiatrist if necessary.

6Can men get Medical Pedicures?

Yes! We also offer a variety of services for men, including a special Men’s Pedicure treatment option. However, if you have a specific medical issue (such as fungal growths, ingrown toes, diabetes-related foot problems), our Medical Pedicure treatment is likely what you need to focus on regardless of your gender!H2

Disclaimer: “Medical pedicure is a non-invasive foot care service and does not replace diagnosis or treatment by a licensed podiatrist or physician. If you have a serious medical condition affecting your feet, please consult your doctor.”
